Websites and online platforms are great tools for learning English! They make it easy and fun to practice new words, improve your grammar, and test your skills anywhere, anytime. Many of these platforms offer interactive games and quizzes that make learning feel like play instead of work.
One of the best places to learn English in a fun way is Merriam-Webster. It's a well-known online dictionary that not only helps you find word meanings but also offers exciting games and quizzes to improve your English skills. 🌟
Here are some fun games in the Games & Quizzes section you can try, along with examples to see how they work:
Pilfer 🦊
Score points by using the letter tiles to create words. After all 60 letter tiles have appeared, the player with the most points wins!
You can score points in two ways:
- Making Words: Create words, three letters or longer, from the letter tiles that drop into play. For example, using the tiles AET, a player could make "TEA." (To make a word, just type it and press enter.) "TEA" scores 3 points – one for each letter.
- Stealing Words: Steal a word that’s already been created (including words you’ve made), by adding at least one letter tile. For example, if another player made "TEA," you could add "T" and steal it to form "TEAT."
Octordle 🔢
Guess all eight OCTORDLE words in 13 tries. Each guess must be a valid 5-letter word. After each guess, the color of the tiles will change to show how close your guess was to the word.
Example: If you guess “CRANE” and one of the letters is yellow, you know that one letter is in the word but in a different position.
The Missing Letter 🔤
A daily crossword with a twist: Multiple clues are definitions from the dictionary, each answer beginning with a different letter.
At the end of the puzzle, the one A-Z letter left is the missing letter. Find the missing letters each day and then unscramble them to solve the weekly Mystery Word!
